Psalm 139 (Easy Arrangement (Key of F))-J-US

We put together this easy piano arrangement of "Psalm 139" by J-US after several of you wrote in to say you wanted to use the song in worship but found the original simply too hard to play. When you first open the score, the rhythm may feel a little tricky ^^;; but the very same rhythmic figure carries the piece from the first bar to the last, so once your hands learn it, everything after that falls right into place. With beginner accompanists in mind, we left out any unnecessarily difficult ad-libs and kept the melody and the chords clear and easy to hear. The original sits in the key of E, which is not the friendliest key under the fingers, so we moved it to F, where the hand position is far more comfortable. It works beautifully for services accompanied by a single piano, for youth and young adult worship, and for your own practice time at home. We hope it becomes a small ray of light in what can be a demanding seat behind the piano. ^^

"Psalm 139" was released as a digital single in 2013 by J-US, a Korean young adult worship community whose name comes from the promise in Matthew that Jesus is with us. The team grew out of a campus prayer meeting in Seoul in 2010. Set over a bright, mid tempo groove, the song echoes David's confession of a God who formed us and knows us better than we know ourselves. Its declaration, that even in broken and uncertain seasons we can lean entirely on the Lord who searches us, is still being sung in worship gatherings today.
